MAHABALESHWAR TRAVEL GUIDE

Mahabaleshwar is one of Maharashtra’s most popular destination – a small town and a popular hill station. During the colonial time, It served as summer capital of bombay presidency.

How to get there:

The nearest airport to Mahabaleshwar is Pune; Mahabaleshwar is short drive from the airport and cabs are easily available from there. The journey takes around 2 hours.

Where to stay:

There are variety of hotels ranging from 1000 to 5000 per night. Choice is all yours. We stayed for 3 days and ended paying up 4500.

What to do:

  1. VENNA LAKE

The lake is one of the tourist attractions of Mahabaleshwar. This beautiful lake is surrounded by trees. There are hotels with the lake view also. Boating is also available there (we also did it) or a horse ride next to the lake.

2. WILSON POINT

Wilson point is the highest point of Mahabaleshwar and the view is just incredible. Both sunrise and sunset can be seen from there. It was named after Sir Leslie Wilson.

3. ARTHUR POINT

The point was named after an british officier, who frequented the spot to gaze at the Savitri River, where he lost his wife and children in a tragic ferry mishap.

4. PANCHGANGA TEMPLE

The Panchganga Temple is constructed at the convergence of five rivers Krishna, Venna, Savitri, Koyna and Gayatri. Locals said that five rivers originate from gaumukhi inside Panchganaga temple. It is said to be 4500 years old.

5. KRISHNABAI TEMPLE

The temple is built on the hill top overlooking the Krishna valley. It gives the best view of Krishna river. It is not visited much by tourist and is isolated.
